Winter Shelter Preparation 2018

Please visit the bulletin board for information on how to serve during our winter shelter week.

  1. Classes are invited to cook and serve an evening meal during the week.
  2. Men are invited to provide security overnight (8:30 pm through 6:00 am).
  3. The hospitality team welcomes volunteers each evening to meet and greet, and interact with the our guests during the evening activities.
  4. Visit the bulletin boards to pick up “mitten” tags – to purchase items for daily lunches for our guests.
  5. Visit the displays regarding the hygiene kits, and fill a zip-lock bag with the requested items.
  6. Who would come to church early on Sunday to help clean our restrooms for the morning’s activities (working with our church custodian)? Time is essential so help is needed.
  7. Who will come early on Sunday to take down tables in the fellowship hall and set up for the worship service in the Well?

Participation in Winter Shelter counts as a $10 discount towards MFuge.  (No matter when they serve.)

Sock Donation Drive 2017

We are seeking in donations in many areas, but one very practical donation is new, thick, clean, and warm socks. Look for these brands at Wal-Mart. We recommend these brands due to equity among our homeless guests.

Please return socks by January 22 or 25, to the “sock” bin in the foyer or outside of The Well.

Winter Shelter 2017

The Dates for our KGBC Winter Shelter are January 25 – February 1, 2017.

Dan Reed and Elaine Gilliam are co-chairs of the shelter ministry. Team leaders have already met, Todd Walker and Nicole Rountree from JCOC have shared the vision of the shelter ministry, plans are underway to collect hygiene items (you may have noticed a poster on the bulletin boards).

Evening meals provided by Bible Study classes will be enlisted in January.

All adult classes on Sunday, January 29, are invited to the sanctuary for one large group class, which will be the final session of our January Bible Study, on the Meaning of Life, out of Ecclesiastes.
