Forgiving What You Can’t Forget

This video Bible study with bestselling author and teacher Lysa TerKeurst (video streaming included) is for those of you who have been hurt by others, who feel stuck in a cycle of unresolved pain. Forgiveness is a major part of the Christian faith. We know God commands us to forgive each other. But, apart from simply saying the words, “I forgive you,” many of us have unasked questions about it:

·         How does it work? On our minds, souls, circumstances—what’s actually happening when we forgive?
·         Why is it so important, and what’s the difference between forgiveness and simply moving on?
·         When should I forgive, and are their exceptions?
·         How can I find healing for myself, even if my act of forgiveness doesn’t seem to change the person who hurt me?

Death and Life – Students

For the next two weeks (October 11 and 18), we’re looking at the death and life of Lazarus (not “life and death,” because that’s mixing up the order!) Sometimes situations don’t go the way we expect. But, the amazing power of God is able to resurrect any dead situation and breathe life into any circumstance.

Counter Culture Begins September 12

Tuesday Bible Class will resume on September 12, 2023. Our new study by David Platt will focus on today’s cultural issues. While each of us has a right to our own opinion, this study will use timeless biblical truth to address what God’s word says about the following topics.

Poverty, Same-Sex Marriage, Racism, Sex Slavery, Immigration, Persecution, Abortion, Orphans, and Pornography.

Why study these issues? Christians need a Biblical perspective to understand the cultural issues we are facing. Our responsibility is to be salt and light in our world; it’s only possible if we know and apply the truth.

What does it mean to be a citizen of the kingdom of Heaven? The Sermon on the Mount articulates what the life of a Christ-follower should look like, asking us the same questions it posed to its original hearers: How should a disciple relate to sin? To others? To the Law? How does a disciple think, speak, and act? Examine the word of Jesus in-depth as He challenges us to think differently about repentance, salvation, and sanctification.

Matthew’s gospel opens with three chapters containing Jesus’ longest recorded message – a sermon given to His disciples early in His ministry to articulate what the life of a Christ-follower would look like.
